Say hello to The Boogie Down Beauty
For those that don’t know, my blog was originally named unfurlthecurl. In the new year I’ve decided to make my blog more representative of Bronx/Uptown naturals, or beauties as I like to call them. I’ve also recently created a meetup group, The Boogie Down Beauties, to help build community in the Bronx/Uptown and I figured it would be nice to have continuity across all platforms which also prompted the name change.

Hello Joy,
Today, to my dismay, I found out that I’ve missed the opportunity to purchase an INHMD ticket, so I’d like to volunteer for the event. Since I’ve had natural hair all my life ( except for one year), I welcome the opportunity to network with others who take pride in their natural mane. For many years, I have felt that I was the exception because natural hair was not the norm. Now it is more and more common, so I am really excited to see that more people are taking pride in how they look naturally. Thank you for bringing so many together for this opportunity.

I’m absolutely flattered that you thanked me for bringing everyone together but I feel like natural women have organized around a single cause and the gravitation towards each other has been organic. We all love one thing, which is hair, and that has brought us togetheron so many different levels.
